Crown Point is the home of America's first major auto race, and the precurser to the Indianapolis 500. The Cobe Cup Race occurred here on June 19th,1909, on a 25-mile track just south of the original courthouse. The winner was Louis Chevrolet.
Each May, in Crown Point, the race is re-enacted in a friendly cruise consisting of some of the finest vintage cars in the area. Winners in various categories are chosen, and a great time is had by all.
